Sarajevo / Tuzla, September 22, 2021 – BH Journalists Association in cooperation with the Council of Europe are organizing an interprofessional two-day seminar Online harassment and threats against journalists and media and its processing through the existing BH legal framework and in accordance to international standards. The seminar is intended for media professionals and representatives of judicial and police institutions, and implemented within the project of the Council of Europe and the European Union – Freedom of Expression and Freedom of the Media in Bosnia and Herzegovina (JUFREX).
The main objectives of the seminar and topics to be discussed by lecturers and participants are identification of the most common sources of online violence and threats against journalists and the media with positive examples of their sanctioning, analysis of the consequences of online harassment on the work of journalists, their life and health and the degree of media freedom in BiH, review of legal provisions related to online violence and threats and other forms of cybercrime, as well as opportunities and initiatives for amendments to existing laws in BiH and for the possible adoption of new laws and making recommendations aimed at preventing and more effectively sanctioning online violence, harassment and threats against journalists and the media.
Lecturers and participants of the seminar are distinguished domestic and international media and legal experts, journalists and editors, professors and representatives of police and judicial institutions.
The seminar will be held on September 23 and 24, 2021 in the hotel “Tehnograd” in Tuzla (in accordance with the epidemiological measures, certain number of participants will follow the event via Zoom platform).
