Boračko jezero, August 25, 2024 – The BH Journalists Association is announcing a competition for the selection of the best student research stories on the topic of hate speech as part of the Journalism Academy 2024 project, which was held on Boračko jezero through two educational modules in June and August this year.

After completing modules I and II, students of journalism and other humanities faculties/academies have the opportunity to research some of the topics on hate speech in the public space, such as: how hate speech arises and why. Whether and how the media and social networks can be a public platform for the deconstruction of hate speech, hate speech against women – from the youngest to those of mature age, how media and information literacy can help reduce hate speech, and how reporting on dates and events from of the last war contributes to the spread of stereotypes and prejudices about others, including hate speech.

During the research of the selected topics, the students will have mentor – one of the experienced journalists, civil society activists and distinguished professors – lecturers from the BHN Journalism Academy. The ten best student works will be published on the website of BH journalists and on the social networks of the association.

The authors of the 5 (five) best works will be presented with a symbolic prize – a tablet.

Announcing the contest and awarding the best student works on the topic of hate speech was made possible by the support of the American people through the American Embassy in Sarajevo, and all stance, opinions and conclusions presented in this project do not necessarily reflect the stance of the American Embassy or the US Government, but exclusively of the Association of BH Journalists.
