Sarajevo: Protest held “Bosnia and Herzegovina for a free Palestine”

A mass protest titled “Bosnia and Herzegovina for a Free Palestine” was held in Sarajevo today, organized by an informal group of citizens and the BH Journalists Association.

The protest march began at the Monument to the Murdered Children of the Besieged Sarajevo (1992–1995) and ended in the park between the Historical and National Museums of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Thousands of citizens from all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina participated, peacefully expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people, as well as with journalists and media workers killed during the Israeli attacks on Gaza.

As a special act of support, BH Journalists prepared 126 different posters with drawings of journalists and media workers who lost their lives reporting from Gaza. According to available data, in the past two years, since the beginning of the war in Gaza, more than 270 journalists and media workers have been killed.

During the gathering, journalist Adnan Rondić read out requests addressed to the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, calling for concrete action and a clearer position of the state towards the events in Palestine.

The program ended with an emotional performance of the song “Bella Ciao”

During the protest, citizens had the opportunity to sign a petition whose demands will be sent to the competent institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Those who did not make it on site can sign the online petition here.
